While being brought to Accra, the prohibited drug, valued at over $350 million, was stopped and confiscated.
The National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) caught the illegal narcotic earlier this year at the Pedu intersection in Cape Coast. The contraband had been cleverly buried in sand mounds and wrapped in sacks and bags to avoid detection.
The drug, which is the subject of a High Court trial, was destroyed with other drugs in front of the media, attorneys, and several investigating agencies, such as the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) and the NIB.
Ghana Standards Authority employees tested the substance in the field before it was destroyed, and the results were positive in front of everyone.
Heroin (10.45 kg), cannabis (1,934.27 kg), methamphetamine (2.00 kg), MDMA (ecstasy) -0.644 kg, ketamine (1.099 kg), and cathinone (15.1 kg) were among the other substances that were eliminated during yesterday's exercise.
The remaining 11,500 kg are made up of Codeine, Diclofenac, and Hyergra.
A total of 16,826.91 kg of narcotics were disposed of.
The materials were destroyed, according to NACOC Director-General Brig. Gen. Maxwell O. Mantey, as part of events to honor society Drug Day, which is observed annually on June 26 and is a day dedicated to bolstering action and collaboration in the pursuit of a drug-free society.
He declared that his organization would begin a big crackdown on illegal substances next month by working with all relevant parties.
"My straightforward message to those who engage in this illegal black business is that it is unfair to the nation." We won't stand by and let them use these illegal medications to ruin our future leaders.
Brig. Gen. Mantey stated, "This cannot continue in our beautiful country; we need peace, security, and good health."
An important turning point in the nation's war on drugs was reached when the watchful NIB agents managed to seize the 3.3 tonnes of illegal goods, which had a street value of about $350 million.
The largest cocaine seizure in the nation's history was made possible by the interception.
The truck driver, 39-year-old Isaac Quaicoo, and his companion, 25-year-old tertiary student Kenneth Cobbinah, were taken into custody pending further inquiry. Mawuku Kudufia is in the dock with them as well.
The state's top suspects, Charles Hagan, Jefflean Kwadjo Ntow, and Kelian Julien Mensah, are still at large.
